With its village setting, sheltered cove, rock pools and dramatic scenery, it’s a lovely option for a gentler seaside afternoon, especially if you fancy combining a beach visit with a wander along the coast. This is the nearest beach to the wedding venue, so as you can imagine Arthur has spent a lot of time here. It’s hugely popular for good reason, with a relaxed holiday feel and a beach that seems to go on forever. Backed by dunes and set in a beautiful bay, it’s a favourite with surfers but still brilliant for anyone wanting that iconic North Devon beach experience. The village itself is also lovely for a drink or bite to eat afterwards. Its long stretch of sand, backed by Braunton Burrows, makes it ideal for big beach walks and taking in the scale of the coastline. It’s the sort of place that makes you instantly slow down and breathe a bit deeper. Yasmin has spent some time here and recommends the restaurant at Saunton Sands Hotel.
